Lever fun fold card

Another fun fold card that is taking my breath away. Oh, this card! What I love most about it is how easy it is to display, you can put in a mantel or desk and will definitely stand out.

Lisa Curcio made a version of it called Pop Out Swing card, that you can find in her YouTube channel.

I made 2 versions of it one in the regular A2 size and one in 6”x6”. The first one using the gorgeous Gingerbread and Peppermint Suite and the second one using the Penguin Place Cardstock.

Always remember that if you buy  a suite or a bundle you save 10%.

Instructions

For the A2 version (4-1/4” x 5-1/2”), you will need:

Cardstock in real red: 2 pieces  5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″

Designer Series Paper. I used the Gingerbread and Peppermint, from the Suite with the same name.

1 piece measuring 4” x 5 1/4”

3 pieces measuring 1 7/8” x 5 1/4”

1 piece measuring 3” x 5 1/4”

Outside of the card.

  1. Score the first piece of cardstock at 4 1/4″ and fold in half. This will be the base of the card. On the front side, cut out a square window, 1” from all 4 sides.
  2. Cut a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of Designer Series Paper for the front of the card. Cut in 7/8” from all 4 sides to make the decorative layer for the front of the card. You can make all sorts of variations and use dies instead, which means getting the DSP, measuring 4” x 5 1/4” and place it on the front. You will probably need to tweak the measurements a little.

Inside of the card

On the second piece of cardstock at 2 1/8”, score 1” down from the top and 1” up from the bottom. Afterwards, score at 4 1/4″ and 6 3/8”.

To cut the piece that will fit through the card front window, go in 1” from the left edge and cut a slit that starts 1” from the top and goes down to 4-1/2”, exactly 1” from the bottom. Now, on the top of the cardstock, at the 1” mark, cut over to the 2 1/8” score line. Follow the same process at the bottom of the card.Fold on all score lines. Folds should be valley/mountain/valley.

Add adhesive to the “backside” of the left and right panels of the cardstock. I used glue, as it gives me a little more time wiggle. If the “lever” fits tight, trim a sliver off the top and bottom of the lever so that it will move freely through the window.

Take 2 strips of Designer Series Paper  1 7/8” x 5 1/4” tall and adhere them to cover the two right panels inside the card.

Take the other piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 1 7/8” x 5 1/4”, and cut in 1” from the RIGHT side, 7/8” from the top and 7/8” from the bottom. Make a vertical cut that connects these two cuts, so that the remaining piece looks like a “C”. Adhere this to the LEFT panel of the inside of the card.

Now, take the piece of Designer Series Paper that measures 3 1/8” x 5 1/4”. Cut in 1 1/8” from the LEFT side and  7/8” from the top. Afterwards, repeat the process at the bottom: cut in 1-1/8” and 7/8” from the bottom. This creates a shape that will cover the “lever” part of the card.

Here is the 6″x6″ version.

For the 6” x 6”, you are going to need:

2 pieces of cardstock, 6” x 12”.

For the outside of the card you are going to need a 5-3/4” x 5-3/4” piece.
