Easter Cards

Two easy fancy folds for your Easter cards.

Hello friends! Once again bringing some inspiration your way. Easter is just around the corner and I decided too start sooner rather than later. We are going to be using 2 new product form the Mini Catalog (please, let me know if you would like one). The first is a stamp set called Easter Friends which includes a bunny, a chick and a duckling. Very easy to color if you like that or use without coloring, which you will see in the samples I created. Also, We will be using the Abstract Beauty designer series paper. This paper is totally up my alley, since I have an addiction to anything that has gold in it… Of course I made a video tutorial, you can find here

I am not sure how our first card is called, but we are going to call it Window fancy Fold, because we ware going to be creating some sort of window…

For this card, you will need:

Now, you can head to the video tutorial here. Take your cardstock pieces and score them at 4-1/4″. The pink side will be the front of the cardstock and the white cardstock will for the inside of the card. I used our border dies to create a flap on the pink cardstock, so we can see some of the gorgeous DSP behind. I aligned the border and circle dies and run them through the die cutting machine.

The whole goal of the card is to have 2 flaps… The front one on pink, and the white one with the DSP, see video below. This means that we are going to glue these 2 pieces together, in one of their sides.

But, before gluing them together, let’s work with the white piece of cardstock. I glued the DSP on top of the gold foil and them adhere it to the cardstock. After that, I aligned the pieces together and using a pencil to draw the circle into the DSP, which will create the window all the way to the center of our card. Place the circle die to this piece and run in through the machine. Yes… I had to run it about 3 times, to get a sharp cut.

I them, ink blended the inside of the card and stamped the sentiment and some grass, all from the Easter Friends set. Using the same circle die, I cut another piece in white basic white and stamped the duck on it. I inked blended the sky and grass.

Finally, I glue the big pieces together. The last piece I put was the duck. I added the wobbler to it and placed it inside the circle. I adore the fact the Duckie is wobbling…

Product List

The second card we are making is a Criss Cross Card.

You will need:

  • 2 pieces of cardstock, 4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″
  • 1 piece of DSP for the back of the card, 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
  • 2 pieces of coordinating DSP, that you will cut a little smaller than the triangle in the front.
  • Basic white for the circle, where we are going to stamp the bunny and a scrap of blushing bride for the border.
  • Scalloped contour dies for the card insert
  • Scraps of white to create the flowers and greenery. I used the flowers and leaves from Sweet as a Peach set
  • Inks used: Blushing Bride, Soft Seafoam, Just Jade, Smokey Slate

Directions

1. Score the 4” x 11” pieces at 5.5”. Lay them next to each other and make a pencil mark in the top.

2. With the two pieces layered together, cut one half diagonally from middle score line to outside corner following the drawn lines. This creates 2 opposite diagonal panels that will layer together and cross over to form a pocket.

3. Lay the cut off triangles together as shown and use as a guide to trace a triangle along the top edge of one panel and cut out. The guide should be .5” above the bottom edge.

4. Use the left over triangles to use as a guide when cutting your DSP. I left about 1/8″, give or take. Honestly, I just used my pencil to make tiny marks and cut them accordingly.

The video tutorial includes both cards. Don’t miss it.
